Hi all,im looking to have a go at repairing my comm 2000 unit off a multi-plexed 206,have airbag light on and loose stalk.Searched the net but cannot seem to find any,so thought someone on here might know or have pics/video of how to do it.
I know i can pay someone to do it,but fancy a fiddle to see what causes the problems and repair them, cheers olly.

Not many people have tried that. I have a broken one. It packed up one day, decided not to do anything. I was going to put it in the bin.

Airbag light - Sure its the comm, had the code read to show this?
If so its most likely the actual ribbon between bag and comm, check for splits, check the actual connector aswel, start simple.
If they look ok, seperate the comm unit, check on the inside where the ribbons meet the comm.

Loose Stalk - Could be one of the plastic cogs has snapped, or come loose and jumped over itself, depends which stalk and which direction it is loose in.

I've had a few apart and managed to fix them, infact i sold one on, sold it cheap and mentioned it was a repaired one, but its been good since.

I also have a comm from a gti, so all auto lights/window and trip comp work off that.

So if you fail, i always have one you can buy

Pug,i am not sure how to open the comm unit, without the spool of ribbon jumping out on me.
Indicator loose in both directions and def the airbag fault inside ,as i have fitted another that cured it,but need this fixed to give to a friend of a friend back to replace it.thanks.
