I have a 1999 1.4 206. And I have air conditioning.
This one..............
![](http://img59.imageshack.us/img59/4839/1038300311141133631010p.th.jpg)
But I'm wanting to upgrade to this one........
![](http://img820.imageshack.us/img820/824/20100925054.th.jpg)
I know there must be a lot of work to do this, but I was wondering what work that is.
Has anyone done this before or does anyone know what needs to be done?
Thanks

Its been done lots of times in the past BUT its a right pain to do due to the many differences between manual aircon & climate control.

I know it is a little unecessary to ask....
Why do you want Climate Control over A/C anyway?
I have a GTI so has Climate as standard and it annoys me..... It has either ECO or A/C settings.
Because I am a cheapskate, I am a little paranoid about it using excessive fuel when it is on, but there isn't a way (That I know of) of ensuring the A/C is completley off unless you switch the whole unit off, but then you get no air coming out of any of the vents.
I would prefer Manual A/C myself.
Like I say, I know it is just me being a cheapskate. But I would have liked an A/C OFF setting!

I just leave my climate control on AUTO all the time.
Aircon on a modern car uses less fuel then opening a window.

I agree with the second part.
(I was thinking that TopGear should test that)
Also stops the buffering, and actually keeps you cool on a hot day unlike a window open.
Like I said, it is just me being paranoid.... Purely because I am a cheapskate.
I'm not the type to drive with my window open thinking I am saving by not using the A/C
I have mine set to ECO, vents on either Screen and Footwell, or just Footwell.

I just leave it on AUTO & adjust the temp if / when it needs it.
For the small amount of extra fuel it uses, you cant really be that tight!

I don't know.... It is just something about it not being in ECO.
It isn't because I am that tight, because the car is going to use what it uses.
My brain knows that it isn't going to all of a sudden turn into a Hummer H2, I know the difference isn't going to be noticable really...
Just something in me that makes me put it on ECO, unless I need it on Full A/C
I can't be the only one... Surely?

Why don't you drive a 1.1 then?

There isn't a great deal of differance in the MPG figures (realisticly) between them.
Figures say there is quite a bit, but even on here realisticly there isn't a lot in it.
I think people may be missing my point a bit though.
Plus, where I live, there are a lot of fast roads and steep hills.
Anything less than 1.4 is just not powerful enough.
With a smaller engine, you are constantly changing up and down gears to try and keep momentum and just having to rev and rev to keep up with the traffic

I'm not really bother about fuel consumption. It's not going to use that much more. I was wondering What needed to be done to make this change?

That wasn't really the point I was getting at so much.
I was mainly asking why you were thinking about it? I don't see so much benefit of Climate over A/C, other than you get to choose your temprature.

Is that all?
It does look a bit fancier in the dash, I must say.
And you do get 8 fan speeds, rather than 4.
