Hi folks,

I'm after a few suggestions of common or obvious causes of blue smoke

For peace and quiet from the girl friend I got her a 206 that she "fell in love" with.

Now im paying the price.

The car is a S reg 1.6 it's chucking out blue smoke when idle and during accelerating. The smoke is comparable to that volcano eruption last year. Is there any common problems with cars of this age that I should look at as being the cause.

Many thanks

Mike.

could be worn valve stem seal or piston ring..... looks like engine overhaul is required

blue smoke wasn't a common fault on 206 really...

although running thicker oil might help but it all downs to how much oil was burned each time lol

Had a feeling that was going to be the case, was hoping there might have been some smaller simpler and easier fault that was the cause.

Any suggestions on where best to get parts? Guessing it ain't gonna be cheap.

well i can't see the point to put effort in an S reg. car lol

the cheapest fix i would say is get a second hand engine, 1.6 8v shouldn't be much more than 100 quid i guess.

or just keep toping up the oil and find a friendly mot tester to do your mot lol

TU engine is pretty much bulletproof.

What oil has it got in it at present?

If the oil is to thin it will just get burnt of & cause the blue smoke.

A 10w40 semi synthetic would be about as thin as I would go with a TU engine.

Genuine Peugeot / Citroen oil filter or a Purflux branded one.

Toyota C-HR GR Sport 2.0 Hybrid with JBL & Alcantara packs.
