Just noticed a problem I've got with a small patch of rust under the rear window on my boot has got worse in the last couple of weeks.
I knew about this when I bought the car and it stood out because of the previous owners poor attempts to cover it up with a paint pen Shocked

Just wanted to ask if anyone else has had this problem before and if you have any tips to get rid of this and respraying, the main problem is the place it is in. If it was just on the bonnet or something I know it could just be a case of a sand/filler/paint job.

Any help is always appreciated! Wink

Is the boot flushed? kind of looks like it is.

If not just get a second hand tailgate for 30 quid

No its not flushed, that was gonna be the next step after fixing this and spraying my new bumper.... I thought that would be the reply to be honest, so back to the scrapyard then! Smile

Its a known 206 issue on a certain batch of cars due to a c**k up at the factory when the rear screen was incorrectly fitted.

Good 2nd hand tailgate in the correct colour is the ONLY cure for this.

You could always sand it down and put that stuff on it that changes the rust to metal again and respray it?

Cant remember what the stuffs called.

Although unless you can spray yourself, would probably be cheaper to just get another tailgate.

Why not look out for a 2nd hand tailgate with a spoiler and upgrade at the same time Wink has to be the easiest way to DIY the rust and you upgrade at the same time did it with a friend off of here took an hour tops to swap everything over!

Replace the tailgate, dont bother trying to repair the rust as it will only come back again sooner or later.

It will be far cheaper & easier to keep an eye out for a replacement tailgate then trying to repair that one as the rear window which is bonded in will need removing to do a proper repair.
