I have recently purchased my first car, a Peugeot 206 LX 1.1 2000 and so far so good but when not accelerating or breaking there is an annoying rattle that sounds like its coming from the front left hand side. I'm not very clued up about cars at all with this being my first so this could be normal.

Is this normal? If not what could it be and what should i look for?

Thanks

It could be a loose heat shield. I had an annoying rattle on a focus I had and it only rattled on the way down through the revs. Took heat shield off, fixed the problem Smile

When doing neither but not stationary if that makes sense.

Everything seems secure under the bonnet.

I still have this problem accept it seems to have got worse.

The noise gets louder and faster the faster i am traveling but completely disappears when accelerating or braking.

The noise is not present when the engine is ticking over.

Anyone got any ideas?
