Back Windscreen wiper not working/intermittently
Another symptom is “double bounce” i.e. wiper carries on with a double click heard from the relay.
Tools needed:-
Drill + 8mm drill bit
P240 grade emery, wet and dry or equivalent to clean up contacts
13 mm spanner, T star driver, Grease, Latex gloves + Kitchen roll
1. Remove the inside back panel on the hatch
2. On the wiper motor whilst the engine is running and the rear wiper is activated, try wiggling the broad white connector around to see if you get any reaction from the motor, if some, great, proves your motor is ok. Switch off the engine.
3. Remove the white connector, this comes apart making it easier, and clean up all the 5 contacts using the emery, there are two small ones on the part that connects to the motor part.
4. Clean the contacts on the motor.
5. At this stage try replacing the connector and carrying out step 2 again. If still no movement it’s not looking good!
6. Remove the wiper nut and remove the wiper.
7. Carefully drill out the 3 rivets holding the motor, remove the connector and pull through the rear windscreen.
8. Undo the T star bolts on the motor. This is where the gloves and kitchen roll will come in.
9. Clean out all the old grease and on the large wheel clean up the contact using the emery cloth. Give it all a good wipe around and replace the grease with fresh. Ensure you clean up the three contacts that touch the wheel; I carefully bent mine up a bit.
10. Bolt the motor back together again, Replace it on the hatch using 3 new nuts and bolts.
11. If now when you retry step 2 and it doesn’t work, looks like a trip to the scrappies!!
12. Good luck with it all.

Smile, you never know who's watching!
