I doubt 30 will make much difference, but i'd keep to the recomended 40. As E5GDM says, its not going to 'wee' out of every gasket.

So what did they actually do to stop the light coming on?

Was the oil level low and the service has changed the oil and put it at the right level or was the sensor replaced?

If neither of the above and it was flashing due to degraded oil that is actually very unusual and I would watch for it happening again when the car gets really hot.

NOTE: a car getting hot on the water temp gauge is not the same as the oil getting hot. A fast motorway drive will heat the oil more than slow city traffic. I would give it a good motorway blast then leave it idling and watch for a repeat.

Again if it wasn't low oil and it wasn't the sensor keep a very close eye on this.

Why isn't my daughter an Alfaholic?
