Right heres my problem, ive changed engines in the 1.4 to another 1.4, however the new engine is slightly different, the oil filter uses a can and my old engine had the paper type which is in a different location, same place on the block. Is it possible to change from the can and put my paper filter on? I would pull the can off to check but the engine is full of oil.

The reason for asking is that my cat hits the oil filter therfore not lining up properly including the manifold. So it's either change the oil filter systems around or change the exhaust system which involves a new cat.

Shut it u stupid little f**k, what's the point in posting in all my treads being such a c***? Least I can afford a gti180, and to get the cam belt done!

So apparently everyone knows my financial situation? If I wanted a 180 I would have bought a 180 simples Smile

Well I guess you got an older engine model which use the can,so I don't think you can replace the can with a paper one, because the holder (plastice container) can't be swaped in the can position, unless you can try to take it off

Ive got the holder for the paper filter off, its just held in with the 3 bolts. I dont want to pull the can off this engine as it's full of oil at the moment and I'd rather not have to empty it and fill it again if its not going to help.
