Hi,
Just bought a little 206 1.4 entice for my mrs.Its my first peugeot and it is a lovely looking little car, what are common problems on these cars and are they as "unreliable" as people say.I done a little homework and seems that the 206 fairs pretty well in the reliable stakes but you guys are the experts.Im pretty mechanically minded and have done loads of work on my BMW 745i(very unreliable) which i sold today so have no issues about getting my hands dirty. The only thing the car has no history of is a cambelt change, Whats the general opinion on mileage for doing this?
Thanks in advance

1.4's are getting popular just lately
Welcome to info, with 206's I find that it depends if you bought a lemon or not, you either have a good one with little/no problems, or you have a rubbish one with loads going wrong.

Think Cambelt is 60k miles or 5 years which ever comes first, correct me if I'm wrong though.
Welcome btw

Hi,
Had a good rummage around the car yesterday and these are the problems i encountered, offside front wishbone bush and ball joint worn and burst so repaced both front wishbones and car feels tighter.Changed plugs and checked all fluids which were all good and clean, cleaned air intake and coil pack.Tightened all hoses and and other screws etc that were not fullty tight in the engine bay.Today i noticed the aux/drive belt was pretty well worn and removed it, Not got a new one yet but question is does it just slide back onto the cogs and does it self tension when the engine starts?? Gap between the rear bumper and bootlid was bigger on one side so i bent up the toe bar which was forcing the bumper down.Need a new front door slide bar thingy as it pops when you open the door due to being worn. All the rest looks solid and no leaks etc, Needs a good t-cut and polish but will do tis after all other issues are complete.
Thanks
