As a new member I thought I would add a post about my DPF removal and clean. I was really disappointed there was no 'How to' on here or the Peugeot forum. I was a lifelong Vauxhall owner and my father is a Vauxhall mechanic. However after my Astra 1.7cdti (Isuzu) engine kept eating Egr valves and underperforming I upgraded to a 1.9cdti 150bhp with X-pack. (piece of junk Fiat engine). This one snapped the swirl flaps in the inlet manifold (very common and built from plastic to fail) £700 with obvious free labour and then the injector went £500 with free labour. I decided I would never buy Vauxhall til they build their own diesel engine again, and affordable. A few months back I bought a 206 Hdi Gti 2005 plate. I absolutely love it, I know the DV6 engine is slated on this site but it I love bombing around for next to nothing. However when I got the dreaded 'Unblock diesel filter' light we had it up on the ramps and off came the DPF for a steam clean. This is very difficult on a 206 and anyone who says it isnt is lying! I wish I had taken pictures so I could of uploaded at a later date. You need 2 pairs of hands and circlip pliers are a must to stretch the clamps back on whilst someone holds the unit up to the turbo and exhaust. My friend had a 307 and was a lot easier as the exhaust is horizontal and workable, and we used the 'how to' on here! On the 206 we had to have the radiator out and most of the airflow meter to bolt it back up. The DPF was sat in solvent cleaner for a few hours before pressure washed out with steam then water. All the debris (cerium oxide I believe) was disposed of according to COSHH regs etc!! Just wondered if anyone had any similar experiences? Ok my life story has been told and if anybody needs advice on this procedure drop me a message. I reset the counters with Planet and cleared codes and now the car goes well, like it can breathe again. I have Planet if anyone needs a diagnosis and Id like to flash the Ecu with the Galletto if anyone wants to delete the DPF from my file....?! I know the car will spend most of the time up on ramps or plugged into a laptop but I love it and im sold on Pugs....my missus has a 206 Sport with same motor and has had it 3 years without EML coming on once!! I look camper than a row of tents driving it but I couldnt care less!!

Do you manually change the hex coding or use software?

MrBSI im not sure what relevance the turbo exchange has to do with this procedure? Sorry im new on here, I used to post a lot on the Astra forums as the Sri constantly had a problem, so Im still learning on Pug's! We used the Lexia/PP2000 software Lee if that makes me a Planet owner??!! Probably not but then everyone who claims to have it has probably bought it off Ebay/Hong-Kong at some point!!

You can't use PPO to edit the coding in the EDC16 to remove DPF coding.

Im confused now! I didnt say I had deleted the DPF file? I was asking if anybody could advise me on how to do that as I have a Galletto tool sat in the drawer and never used! May have to use a specialist to get all the DPF and additive tanks removed its totally pointless it being on there! Im happy to get it all off, will definately pay someone next time, I imagine the light will come back on at some point?

You need to practise your grammar and use some paragraphs, as it reads as though you are offering a service of DPF removal.

Ok point taken. It was a bit much for a first post!! I searched for a decent DPF removal procedure in Wiltshire but the closest was Bristol. Thats why I cracked on with the clean because of the long weekend. Probably end up a temporary fix, ideally would like the DPF removed from Ecu.

see my thread about my DPF removal woes,
www.206info.co.uk/Foru...45535.html
yeah its not as easy as it soulnds sometimes, lee i would like you to look that thread over, as there is a fault code on there, that i cant get much info on. i need to know what specifically and where etc, so my machanic can set about fixing it. then i can return the map to stage 1, with 140 bhp, 60nm more torque, and around 7+ mpg more.
fyi after it was done before it registered the code it was absolutly flying, it was like a different car.

Ghosty-thanks for the post,I looked back through your posts and they are really informative. Would you recommend Avon tuning? Im a Swindon boy too! My partner has a 206 Sport and it drives so much different to my Gti, its quicker at the bottom end and torqier but once mine gets going it flies. Im thinking of changing the EGR valve as im sure its sticking open/closed. On here a lot of people not sure how to remove. I did mine last week and its only two 10mm bolts, I cleaned it with EGR3 what was left in the can after I sprayed this through the turbo. It helped a bit but Im gonna replace the valve anyway. They dont go wrong very much fairplay to Peugeot.

hey, we might have to get together, and have a mini HDi GTi shoot, lol.
about avontuning, its one guy garath and his assistant (who also has a 206 HDi GTi), all he does it dpf after dpf, he has some maps, but others that like mine proved abit troublesome due to the complications in my thread, had to be sent to a guy who custom writes maps, garath keeps all maps related to cars so if you ever have a problem he can fix it somehow (by that i mean the mapping aspect not the overall failure of parts), my car currently has 4 maps (std, std no dpf, stage .75 (130bhp) and stage 1). as soon as the unrelated issues are fixed, mine will be put back to stage 1.
as for the service, it was very professional but relaxed, he would talk to you while he was doing it, and explain what he was doing, total time was quoted as 5-6 hours, actually took about 4, and that included a rush fix on a HRV cat and installing a tuning box into a transit (which i did not mind as i had all day to play with.
total cost was £399 (which he was happy to split to card and cash).
about after sales:
saturday night my anti pollution fault kicked in (you have read my thread so i wont go into it here), one phone call & subsiquent 50min drive and it turns out to be a sensor that has gone (this ws on a sunday, extra points there) we have agreed that once i get the problem fixed he will map it back to stage 1 FOC, currently its sat at std no dpf (even now it pulls quicker, and has more power low down).
as for the EGR, my machanic friend will be sorting this out in due course, as well as an inlet cleanup to stop the carbon build up. some people say just blocking it off works, some say you have to remove it altogether. im going the block it off route, and if the EML comes back on, garath said he can remove it from the BSI, so should no affect the car.

Ghosty-thanks for that mate, that was really informative! Im spending a bit of time in the evening putting in some research on which route to go down with the DPF removal and I looked at Avon a few times, always worth going down the word-of-mouth route, I noticed the assistant you were mentioning at Avon is selling his Gti-Hdi? A black one? It looks mint on their website, £3250 ono?!
I put great trust in my own ability to do things to cars, but I dont like this DPF and regen rubbish on the car, its back pressure that doesnt need to be there!! My previous cars have been into main dealers with expensive consequences even with my father and brother-in-law being mechanics but the Pug is great to tinker with and I know the bare-bones of the car, engine, gearbox, clutch and turbo are all spot-on or new so have in great deal of faith in it.I must get the DPF off in the next few weeks though,250-400 Id happily part with for a car which cost me peanuts.
