HI,new to the site but was member to the seatcupra website when i owned one of those which was a great help when i had problems so helping this is the same Smile
Iv done a search on this already but not really found my answer.
Iv only just brought the car (206 gti 180) but when i test drove it,it had a loud thump/bang on the drivers side when you went over quick dips.thought it was top mount or strunt so brought both.just went to fit them and took old ones off and nothing seems to be wrong with them.
Anyone can suggest of something else doing the noise? its a real harsh thump and shakes your bones when it hits.sounds like the shock is bottoming out!! its fine over bumps, its the only quick dips it has the bang so main roads fine but back streets a total night mare.
People suggested on other post, wishbones or engine mount.surely the wishbones wouldnt sound this bad?? and if it was the engine mount it would bang pulling away or changing gear at high revs but it doesnt?? Im confused with this one but dont want to put the new shock and top mount on to try as wouldnt be able to take it back used.Changed drop link too but still doing it

Any help much appreciated Smile

So apparently everyone knows my financial situation? If I wanted a 180 I would have bought a 180 simples Smile

Knackered wishbone maybe could also check your shock absorbers maybe one or both of them are shagged.

Do you get a thud when you set off (as soon as the clutch bites) ive got a thud on my gti. Im goin to check the engine mounts. Have just fitted an engine in mine, engine mount may need tightening. If this works I will let you no.

Dont get any thud when setting off but if i hold it a biteing point it thuds and keeps on thudding as the car is shaking.seems a different kind of sound though but not total sure.just had a quick look at the engine mounts.only one i have a little problem with is the top engine mount on drivers side attached near the shock.it has a big black nut type thing with a rubber stop on top.well this i can un do by hand!! is this right?? cant seem to get a tool in to try and tighten it but if its not meant to be this loose ill take apart to tighten it.

Hi @ringer179. Please help. I have exactly the same problem and have spent hundreds trying to fix it without solving the problem. I have had the following done in the last year: Rear stabilizers, rear shocks, front shocks, front lower control arms (left and right) and left inner drive shaft boot. These things all needed doing, but at the end of the day, still hasn't fixed the thump which as you say shakes your bones. I'm not too familiar with car terms, so can you tell me exactly what you did to fix the problem? Many thanks, Joe

Is there anyone else that can help me with this issue? I checked the engine mountings, and the rubber is torn in 2 places top and bottom. Is that what I need to replace? Can the rubber be replaced without the entire aluminium casing? Thanks
