Why can't you just space the wheels slightly to clear the calipers?

they have 20mm spacers on at the moment and i want the front to sit in a bit. its not a joke, a few people i know have done it, but i didnt know if it was "too" dangerous, despite the obvious :-p.

I've heard of people 'grinding' a fabricated bracket used so a calipers from outher cars will fit.
NEVER a caliper as it will weeken it and could fail/crack under the pressure.. you'll have no brakes

what brakes and wheels you trying to use

im up for some stupid ideas to get things to work but this is insanity you cant see how much you have taken off or how much is left if you was to machiene them maybe but 5mm is way too much to considder

especially when you can get enough braking power form the 180 discs

It's doable...I did it with a set of GTi6 calipers under a set of banded rallye steelies on my S2 Rallye when I had it sitting on it's a**e. Basically ground the bits that come out like little humps down and just chemical metal'd the whole caliper smooth. Was spot on for the entire duration of me having them on the car.

you really needed to ask that question?!? Rolling Eyes

grinding bits off the brakes just to fit wheels is ridiculous and dangerous also if you have an accident and the insurance and/or police spot you've been grinding bits off brakes off you will be in the s*** then

even if you were to do it 5 mm is a lot to take off and will probably weaken them

i would say it doable too, there is 2 bands on the outside of the calliper that could be smoothed down to the middle and it would still be strong enough to work.

But its something that is just stupid to do, any way. why have such smalls wheels that you would need to do such a thing anyway?
