If they stay on, the plug under the steering wheel has come out.

Its a white plug underneath the glovebox, just push it right in!

my friends are always pushing my brake switch out and ive been pulled over about 15 times for having constant brakelights on, so to avoid I wired a little LED into the middle brake light and pushed it through the lining on the ceiling inside, so everytime I break i can see the LED and if the switch has been kicked out the LED stays on with the lights! cost me about £2 to do and ive always caught them out when the switch gets kicked!

I just failed my MOT as my breaklights (all 3) were not working.

Changed the Fuses first, then bulbs and now just checked this "White connector" and it was plugged in, took it out and reseated and still getting the problem.

I assume this is the area I am supposed to be looking at for this "white plug"

Seems strange that all my break lights have stopped working.

Wonder if this unit itself is faulty, so the connection is not being made when the breaks are pushed.

Any other ideas guys?

Try shorting the connector plug out then see if the brake lights come on.

Sounds like it needs a new switch.

two brake swithces if that helps one under drivers fuse box and other behind glove box on the end of the brake bar common to get knocked with passangers feet causes rear light faults.

staying on could also be an indication that the brake swith on the end of the brake bar has been knocked out.

Thanks.

Where about is the one under the drivers fusebox? Is it going to be something very easy to spot? or is it mixed in with millions of other cables?

The best way to see it is opem door and sit on floor and stick your head under it is in the middle if you have problems locating follow brake and the other one also view from the floor behind glove box torch might be needed hope that helps.
