It will just feel like it's holding back or just get it mapped on 95 then you won't ever have to worry about this haha

But I always get my fuel at tesco anyway, (99 octane) which gets my mum clubcard points  , plus I think it would be a good little experiment

Sorry to be a bum hole... but why would it be a good little experiment lol?
I thought that's what people did anyway tbhwy.
Why would you chose to run lower octane fuel on the day of mapping if there was even the slightest chance it could affect the power output?
Anyway as said, yawnnnnnnn
Sooo many different variables that will effect the output. No two cars are the same ect ect ect.
The way people do it now days is get your car on an RR, mod it, use same RR and continue, if you're making power weyhhhheyyy if not bad times. But even that can be unreliable as the operator might want to make you happy and plus a few bhps ect.
What I usually do is run a full tank of V Power and have my cars mapped on it, seems to make a difference, although I don't get before RR's because realistically the figures going to be just a ballpoint. I'd be more worried about the difference you get in performance.

If you're getting a pre made file flashed onto your ECU, what mods you have and octane will make no difference as the map will be generic. If you're getting one where they upload a base map and tweak the fuelling and ignition timing to best suit your setup you'd want to get your moneys worth and stick the best grade of fuel in for the day

V.good point made mate, it will only make a difference if you have a custom live map. But as yours hasent got internal mods I would say you don't need one.

What mods does the OP have?
Where are you getting it done? Even if you have good mods, there are not many tuners out there that are interested in custom mapping a n/a petrol, because loading pre made files onto turbo cars is easier and has bigger gains, so its hard to find a good tuner amoungst all the laptop flashers

I use northhampton motor sports yes it's a v.long way from Telford but you get what you pay for and that's were all the people I know who have track cars get thers set up.

It was done using Tesco 99 I stopped using v-power years ago as the rewards points didn't realy equate to much saving But Tesco give me clubcard points and 5p off a litre Any ways so it's all good lol
It won't do it any harm if you use a lower RON fule just won't be at it's full potential that's all,and for every day driving most people couldn't cearless about the RON aslong as it's cheap to fill up.

Right well with all that said, I'm getting it mapped on tesco 99 to get my monies worth out of the re map, I didn't realise everybody ran higher octane when they went for a re map, and yeah I'll be getting rs tuning to do mine as iv heard they're alright and they're not to far from me , I'm fitting a janspeed exhaust before I get it remapped, already got K&N panel filter and I'll be giving it a damn good service before it goes to rs tuning obviously, so not a lot of mods planned but unsure what other mods to do on the 180 without spending big money, my budget is about 600 for extra mods but cant think of anything that I could get with that Money :-/
