Hi all,

I've got a 206 1.4 HDi LX on an 02 reg and has covered 86k, all usual service history, been done every 12,000.

Last week, my Mum used my car whilst I was in hospital. Since she borrowed it, there has been an issue with steering or suspension. Basically, she was on a busy main road and saw several ambulances and fire engines coming up the road, so she mounted the kerb to allow them to pass. So the front passenger wheel went up on the kerb, when they passed, she drove off the kerb and she said there was a loud bang from the passenger wheel arch area. The steering then was clunking every time the steering wheel was turned to the right.

It is still clunking and feels like something is 'catching' you can sometimes hear a twang as well, as if something is caught then released.

Tracking seems slightly off and the suspension also does, but there is nothing major that seems to point to one or the other being an issue.

I'm taking it to my local garage on Weds but if anyone can give me a heads up on what I could be looking at, I would be very grateful?

BD xx

Yes, that's why you should never let the 'rents at your car!

Just checked the coil spring, it appears intact as far as I can see, although I could be missing something?

They normally break either right at the top or near the bottom.

Nothing visible at the bottom but can't see right to the top, so I am assuming if it is broken thats where it'll be (on a process of elimination!), looked at springs on eBay and not too expensive at least Very Happy

Thanks for you help so far Very Happy Very Happy
