Basically, as the car has sat for six months, I have just serviced it, change the oil, spark plugs and coil were done on it just before it came off the road, so sparks have been left, this is what i have changed:

Air Filter
Pollen Filter
Oil Change.
Oil Filter.

Should I do anything else? Car is sitting at dead on 102k, I have receipts for a new belts and a lot of stuff from last year.

Now, Because the car had been sat, when I moved it, some fragments seemed to come off the rear drums, I can't get the car up to check currently, but I will do in a few weeks hopefully.

Basically, I am concerned about the rear drums, and I was going to change the pads in them, and just give them a good old clean, After speaking to someone I know he said something about he thinks once the hub covers are removed, you have to get new ones (He thinks, he is not 100% sure, as obviously it depends on the car) so I thought I would ask do I have to replace the hub covers once removed?

Also, what rear brake pads do I need? can't seem to find anything that's not crappy ebay Chinese rubbish anywhere.

Cheers,
Jack.

If you have drums then you need shoes and not pads. If the handbrake was left off while the car was stood, then they should be fine. If you want to replace them most motor factors stock decent brands. I think ECP have a 15% off brake parts at the moment.

You should replace the hub nut when ever you take off the drums. They don't cost that much. Don't over or under tighten them as it may result in hub failure and your wheel over taking you on the road. Off the top of my head I think it's 200Nm but have a check before tightening them.

Yeah, I meant Pads, haha.

Handbreak was unfortunatly left on as high as it would go Rolling Eyes Now has been lowered, and left in gear to prevent movement.

So, I'll need 2 sets of brake shoes, and 2 hub nuts, alrighty.

1 set of brake shoes (4 to a set) 2 hub nuts and caps. I'd even get new handbrake cables if it has been left on for that long because of the stretch. Have you tried moving the car to make sure the drums haven't seized due to being stood for so long. If they have, might be a t**t to get them off to change the shoes.

Just looked on ECP and they have 25% off brakes and have Pagid shoes for your model at a reasonable price.

I would be doing quite a bit more if the car had been stood for 6 months. Brake seals may have perished, water may have been absorbed by the brake fluid, suspension will have settled and ball joints may seize, internal engine parts may have rust deposits on them. Disconnect the battery, take the plugs out squirt a bit of oil into each cylinder and turn the engine over by hand just to get the parts moving again before you turn the engine on the starter.

Nothing worse than taking a car down the road after it has been stood for a while and listening to all the strange noises until the parts free off.

Cars already been serviced and is running fine matey Smile

Just the brakes I was a bit worried about, it drives fine up and around my road, but I want to get them done just to be on the safe side.

Do ECP do the hub nuts too?

Can't see any listed on their site but not really looking through all sections. They are £2.88 each at dealer and caps are £2.62 each.

I know my local motor factors stock them but each one is different with the stock they carry. Someone around your area will know where is best to go for parts like that.
