Hello!

Car: 1999 peugeot 206 1,4

I exchanged half of right side driveshaft when i experienced a nasty noise from the cv-joint on that side. My plan from the beginning were to exchange the whole shaft but after experiencing a lot of problems getting the inner half of the shaft lose i thought that a change of the two cv-joint alone would be enough. After that being done and everything was reassembled i took it for a test-drive and the gearshift rocked up and down. At speeds over 60km/h the whole front end started wobling.

I disassembled the whole thing again and discovered that a spring in the inner joint wasn't placed as it was supposed to so that was fixed and assembled everything again. This time the rocking gearshift was better but it still wobbled at speeds.

Now here comes the really strange part, as soon as i dissengage the clutch every symptom disappears and with no throttle the same thing so this only acts up during acceleration on 2000 and up revs.

Anybody got an idea what i have done wrong?!
Getting kinda desperate here, going away for a holiday on wednesday and i dont wanna drive it like this Sad

Sorry for any spelling-errors, english is not my native language

I would say its out of balance if only part of it was changed. It would only wobble then at speed.

so the entire shaft is now changed, missed the fact that the oil from the gearbox came pouring out when the shaft finally broke free due to a powerful bang to the head.

The problem seems to have been aided, a slow test-drive due to the near empty gearbox.

We'll see in the morning when i have bought some new oil for the gearbox.

The bearing carriers are common to seizing on them, I have just done one and I had to bray it with a punch while while father raggled the shaft. Not a nice Job!
