The wheels will lean in towards the inner arch quite abit you will also get some pretty bad noises coming from the back end handling will be pretty bad as well.

Jack the rear end up and try to shake the wheel.
Or if your lazy kick the wheel and it may rattle/shake.

if the axle is really bad, you can stand behind the car and look at the rear wheels they may camber/lean inwards at the top. another way to tell is to jack the rear end up and shake the wheel side to side then push and pull the wheel. you will be able to feel any play, movement in the bearings. the play is usually where the radius arm connects to the rest of the beam... if that helps.
