Well another day and another problem for my 206
went to leave the house for work this morning and problems straight away
started it up and straight away it was struggling to idle properly, gave it a little gas, then the idle dropped again to just under 500rpm, tried to give her a little gas again but this time as the revs were at 500rpm the engine struggled to pick up.
It did this for about 3 minutes then the revs started to pick up to 1000rpm when the engine light came on and stayed on, when the engine was turned off the radiator fan was on but couldn't understand why as the engine didn't have time to get hot enough.
Tried it again when I got home and all the above happened again, coolant and oil levels are fine, tps and crankshaft sensor have been replaced so a bit stumped as to what it is other than an electrical fault.

mine does this, well it did before the engine upgrade ONLY in the hot weather. I found by letting the fuel pump prime before turning ignition fully makes it start better. try that?

Do you own pp2000? I think you should invest in it! Coolant sensor? Thinking engine is warmer than it is, would cause fueling and fan issue?

haha cheers mate
Would a faulty engine temp sensor cause the engine to sound and feel really lumpy on start up? Me and dad been discussing it also and think maybe the fuel pump could be behind the engine misbehaving but agree with you with regards to the engine temp sensor being faulty causing the fan to kick in, will know wednesday what it is hopefully although there was a nice purple ek civic which I could always sweet talk them into swapping

i think engine temp sensor=coolant sensor and is very easy to tell if they are faulty or not

Been looking up symptoms and causes of a faulty engine temp sensor and it sounds like it could be that

a live data read would tell if it is faulty or not

Tbh, if we ever suspect a coolant sensor fault we just replace it
They arent expensive, and are a 5 minute job (ps check the connector for water residue and check the connector for corrosion as they do leak)

Got to wait til wednesday for that mate but just been outside to check on oil levels etc, started the car up and it sounded fine, fuel pump was heard starting up and everything seemed fine, left the engine running for 3 minutes and it sounded fine, no struggling to tick over or irreatic revs, not even the sound of the fan cutting in or the engine light coming on
still, not going to drive it til it has to go in the garage and they have good luck, once all sorted, up for sale it goes
