I have a peugeot 206 1.4 petrol lx 2000 plate, it was running fine until recently ever since the weather has become cold.
When i go to start it up in the morning in cold weather it now has trouble starting, some times it will fire up and stay on for a few seconds, then other times it will start up for longer but rev really high to 3k revs.
Once the car is warmed up the revs settle down and it drives, stops and starts as normally.
Does anyone know what might be wrong, its a bit odd this happens in the cold weather?
Could it be some sort of sensor fault??
Thanks Rolling Eyes

With those kind of symptoms I'd have to investigate the engine temperature sensor (ETS). It might be a poor contact at the sensor or the sensor itself

Much easier if you can back probe the connections and see exactly what the ECU is seeing from the sensor but first easy step might be to simply disconnect the ETS, clean the contacts with electrical contact cleaner and reconnect again as tarnished contacts will affect the line resistance
