Hi there,
ok.. just to explain, I am a complete noob with the whole 206 scene. I got a 2000 206 L D
So, this car is a 1.9 without a turbo... wouldnt pull the skin off a milk pudding... but thats not the problem..
The previous owner had some kind of mad stereo system installed, and I think it's caused a few minor electrical problems...
(1) There is a clock on the dash, but it's not lit up...
(2) The speedo is not lit up either
(3) when the main lights are on, when I indicate right, the headlight and dip beam lights alternate flashing, and the proper green arrow doesn;t flash... but it does when the lights are off...
So, I have done some things to try to rectify the problems..
I have replaced some fuses.. the ones that are in the manual that are associated with "Instrument Cluster"....
But that didnt work...

Could there be something screwed up with the wiring harness, or could it just be blown bulbs??

I am not putting any photos of the car up, as I am embarrassed with the shape of it... there isn't a straight panel on the thing.. but thats a summer job..

Any help guys??
Thanks
Simon

you need new bulbs, remove it from the dash and twist them out/in.

It sounds like the previous owner has butchered your wiring looms or there's a bad earth somewhere. If your not sure what your doing it would be best to get an auto electrician to have a look.
Your clock and speedo most likely have blown bulbs, I think there 501 twist bulbs but check the connections first

wiring is complicated stuff....best take it to an auto electrician as you could be on for days....if you dont have the funds try removing the stereo if you have one and unwire it leaving all wires seperated that went to the stereo, but tape up bare ends as you go to avoid shorting out or damage.try your lights now....note any changes from prior to unwiring stereo.

.....one more possible would be to be sure all speaker wires are intact and not connected to anything and importantly-check all the earths behind the stereo are earths reaching earth/body,they are usualy black and carefully test there ok as earths and try your lights etc. again...you might need to check the fuses again as this may have blown one or two.

what stereo set up do you have now?any amps and what speakers?

WOW.... you guys are brilliant.... I mean, I had other cars, and went to the respective forums, but they knew didley squat about my problems...

@bezford I will remove the stereo to see if that helps... I have a sony head unit.. dunno what model it is, but it plays cds, and had an input for ipods and things.... it also plays mp3s..... No amps, and standard speakers. Thanks

@macca1411, @karimali831 & @ukskater01 - Thanks for the info about the bulbs.. I will get them tomorrow...

hi guys
ok, I have had the clocks out,and some tool has been making after market additions..... There was a strip of LED's inside the back of the binacle... The main bulbs were removed.... So, I decided to put in new bulbs.. and realised when I was replacing the bulbs, the PCB was scratched and someone tried to fix it....
So, what I need is a replacement PCB.....
I have been looking on ebay and the cheapest complete set is 80 quid.... the clocks I have are just the single dial.. just the speedo, no rev counter... it has the 2 plug setup, the big yellow and the small white one...
could I use the same clocks out of a 1.4hdi with the rev counter.. there are ones out there with one plug, and ones with two... will the two plug version, with the rev counter work in my car??
Thanks again for the help...

Yes it will, you'll have a rev-counter too, without which I refuse to drive a car.
