i just got a new clutch done and there are times where i cant engage the gear. i depress the pedal fully but the gear lever is not able to move into any of the gears as if the clutch pedal was not depressed. this has happened to me twice now and it always occurs at the start of the day when i first head out. once i spend 5 minutes trying to get into gear it would eventually slide in albeit some roughness to it. while i was trying to get into gear i could hear quite softly that the gear mechanism is trying to engage but is unable to. and i can feel the car rock forward quite gently (i was trying to engage gear 1).

once i am able to get the gears going, for the next 100m of traffic i can feel that engaging gear is a challenge, i would not be confident of being able to move off from stationary. eventually it gets better after a few traffic lights and it is all forgotten, smooth as hell for the rest of the day. right now im paranoid that the gears would give me trouble tomorrow when i start my day.

Sounds like the wrong grade of oil was used for your gearbox and it is taking longer to warm and there is a possibility there is air trapped in the clutch. Best thing to do is take it back to the mechanic and tell them your having difficulties

Don't you need to drain the oil to get to the clutch? Does sound like the wrong grade.

Need to make sure the cable is adjusted correctly or bled if it's hydraulic to make sure it's disengaging fully

ugh. more down time. only these few possibilities? when it first occurred at the mechanic he said it is because it is new. looks like it isnt because of that. Sad
