Hi Guys,

Just brought myself a 2004 1.4 206 fever with 74k on the clock, I have noticed that when turning right (around an island) a loud grinding/whirring noise seems to be coming from the front of the car, kind of like a tyre rubbing noise. When in a straight line it is not as bad and hardly noticeable, there is no vibration through the steering wheel either. My first thoughts are wheel bearing but wondering if any of you guys have any experience of this?

Thanks
Austin

Go to the suspected wheel and bang on the wheel or shake if its loose make sure the wishbones bushes are nice and tight if so wheel bearing it is.

wheel bearing don't sound like a wheel rubbing, maybe you have a wheel rubbing with your wheel liner, look for scratch marks

Maybe used a poor example there, but its a loud whirring noise. Have checked the inner lining and also if there is any play, all seems to be ok but i'm no mechanic tbh, is there anything else it could be?

I have seen track rod ends so badly adjusted that turning one way allows a wheel to hit the wheel arch linner.

It could be a loose wheel arch liner.

It could be a wheel bearing.

It could be a drive shaft.

Let us know when fixed.

Had it done by that new place opposite furrows in Wellington. It's called formula 1 auto centre. Blokes are good there and they do a price match gaurantee aswell. Smile
