been using Castrol engine oil but been told its to thin and not very good
is this correct?
what is the correct grade oil to use

The grade varies between different oil companies, the best one is generally agreed to be Total Quartz 9000 5w40.

i was using castrol 5w-40 for two years and my gti was burning it up like crazy. basically had to top it up every 2 months. I've since switched to valvoline 10w-40 and its a major difference as it doesn't get burnt up much at all. Been thinking of giving Shell a try too as my peugeot garage uses shell.

I found a really good website for this its called opie oils

Just find your car and it comes up with the correct type of oil. Hope this helps
EDIT: Also tells you how much you need to put in so youu dont overfill or underfill it

that says 5w 40 but mine users a bit same as magistar so might try the 10/40

ive always used this on my 206's and never has it used much, even after 6 months its not used any. its a damn good oil
