Right so i have bought the GTi 180 engine cover, however it simple doesnt fit and im not willing to drill into it. So last night i bought a rocker cover off a 180. My question is will this fit 100% and cause no issue with my engine. From what i have read they are a straight swap however im not confident,

Wouldn't there be an extra hole in the 180 cover for the VVT sensor? (Not sure tbh just a long shot.)

You'd be amazed at all the problems a cloth in the hole can sort.

Might be able to make a blanking plate of some sort for the VVT as it won't be in use. Certainly worth a try if you've picked the parts up cheap enough.

VVT has nothing to do with the rocker covers. Rear cover is the same and the front cover is too.

Camshaft sensor on a 180 sits in the side of the head so goes nowhere near the rocker cover.

think there are 2 different types of rockercovers.
your planning to put the 180 engine cover on your gti i presume?
im planning to do the same just quite havent got there yet.
someone told me on here a long time ago that you need the rockercovers from an early 180 car?
you obviously need a rockercover that fits your gaskets.
say again..i THINK there are 2 different types of gaskets

My gti rocker covers were the same as the 180 rocker covers! After moving few cables I Managed to get 3 secure plastic bolts to hold cover down. Job complete.

i had a go at it today, turns out i THINK my 180 cover will fit my gti as well.
but i only had one plug that came with it,so have to go to the dealer to get more of them.
but now is the question..get it colour coded or carbon dipped..
