Hi All
Just had car in garage to change both outer end cv joints, has from previous
post abs rings kaput. Also had both lower arms, track rod ends, drop arm links done while he was at it to save expense later on. Troube is when i collected car, he said he took car for a short spin round the block and abs light didn't go off, which he said is unusual. would a higher speed thrashing on motorway clear the fault, was going to do it today before i posted, but winters here again.
Just to add sensors ok i think, as the old rings would move now and again and knock the abs off and on at times, with a noticeable change in the brakes.
Any comments much appreciated, until i can give it a thrashing

The ABS light should go out within a few mins (if that) of driving.
Something is still wrong.

Well the ABS ECU is have to be cleared, and to do so,you need to do a code reading, and clear it,and if it stays on,then something is still wrong definitely, only the Airbag light goes off by itself if the system check result was ok

Not the case in my experience, the light on the dash should go off when the ABS reads correctly again.
Had the same issue on my 180 and never had to have the codes cleared to get rid of the light.

Thanks Timon 2210 thanks for your input, but MRBSI and Big R seem to have the opinion of the mechanic.

Just got round to sorting it, whipped all four sensors out the other day and gave them all a good clean, with no joy, checked both abs fuses this morning
both ok. My thoughts at the moment is when the rings crack, they become ovaled and bigger, and am therefore assuming, as worn down the sensors a bit,
and am now left with a larger gap between the sensors and ring.
So gonna get 2 new sensors and see what happens.
Anyone know what the gap should be between sensor and ring, tried searching for the answer without success.

Unlikely, I think you need a code read to see what the issue is here. Sounds like a sensor failure.

Had it code read a while ago came up front n/s sensor, i am presuming the the fault came up because of the cracked ring, or am i wrong.
Anyhow gonna change front sensors, and hopefully everything will be ok.
