What difference would a remap of my 2005 1.4 16v for economy make?
What kind of price should I expect to pay?
Where can I get it done (properly!)?
Does it affect your insurance the same way a performance remap would?

I cant see it making a blind bit of difference tbh, the £200+ spent on a remap would be better off just put in fuel, probably cheaper in the long run as you wouldnt benefit in the fuel save on remap

Have you had this done?
Is your judgement based on std car setup? I have a power flow exhaust. If I added an updated air filter would this affect a remap?

Try somewhere like RS tuning in Leeds. Bit of a trek for you but I think it's the place most of the retired members would have recommended.

Ok thanks macca, I will look into it. do you think with the correct setup (exhaust and filter) a remap for economy will see any benefit?

If you get the right remap you should see some benefit, but at the expense of power.
They used to detune hire cars to make fuel efficiency better, and you could tell the power difference straight away.
Personally I would rather spend the money on having the car properly serviced to see fuel saving gains.
You would have to weigh up how much fuel you'd save per mile and work out over how many years it would take to get your money back and start to see a return on the initial price of the remap.

Thanks for the advice. I have sent them an email to see what they say.
TBH loss of power is not an issue. I love my 206 and want to keep it till it dies. I want it to be as cheap to run as possible. It is fully serviced and is giving me good MPG. Just wanted to know if I can get any more out of it.
I don't want a diesel as I don't do enough miles.
The second reason I want it cheap to run is I want to get a second car. Something for fun and to tune. Looking at either a scooby or Evo. Leaning towards an Evo VIII. Still looking though...

Do you really think a remap will make itself worthwhile though fuel consumption reductions? It will never pay for itself on a 1.4 16V unless you do mega miles.

My GTi 138 performed ten times better after an Angel Tuning generic remap, and was more fuel efficient. For £150 that it cost it was worth it.

K&N filter, Powerflow exhaust. It was a generic remap done in a car park at the M42 services. No rolling road, just a public one lol.
When dyno'd it produced 141bhp which I was pleased with (a non-remapped GTi '138' made 125bhp on the same [RS Tuning] rollers). At that time, the Red-Dot remapped/dyno'd cars all made less than my generic 'mapped car (but that is another story!)

If you were going to get a remap I would highly recommend RS Tuning in Leeds. I haven't had a map there myself but I used to organise the RR meets there back in the day so have had plenty of dealing with them and they are top guys and have done some quality work with other cars.

rs tuning all the way he does some top work, doesnt fill you with BS to make you think there is more bhp etc unlike other RR i have been to
barking, a gti standard will make 125 on rs tuning rollers??? made my day i thought i only had made 15 with all my mods could be upto 25
