I bought the 206 a fortnight ago but a week in the EML has come on-contacted the previous owner and tells me the light comes on every 4/6 months????
He assures me that he has had the o2 sensors done as that is the fault that was registered when he plugged, same fault my diagnostics team tell me and that this is a common problem amongst the 206 fraternity??
Can anyone tell me if this is "common" as the EML light is not something i enjoy looking at.

well this is not a common fault in 206,every car can have this problem ,considering age,and mileage, but i think it's better to have it checked by pp2000,and be sure what cause the EML light on,this way you will be sure of the cause.

Yes that's right, check for any fault codes first
"He assures me that he has had the o2 sensors done" What does that actually mean?

I'd be wanting to see the paperwork that they were done, either garage receipt or parts receipt. They could have conveniently have been lost. Cheap parts fitted?

Did your "diagnostics team" plug a code reader in to the car or are they just working on hearsay from the seller? If they didn't plug in, did they also tell you about the 1000 other faults that could cause the EML to come on?

A proper code read and live data run is required to find if the O2 sensors are faulty or if it's another fault that is causing the EML to come on.

If my EML was coming on every 4-6 months, I'd be wanting to know what the real cause was.
