G'day all

Just bought a GTi 137 W reg - thanks to some great info on this forum I've fixed plenty of little niggles so far but have a couple of bits I can't find an answer to (will post up separately).

It has climate control - digital display works fine, all buttons work fine and I can hear the flaps moving, I can hear the AC switching on and off. However, the actual blower fan is on full speed all the time from the moment you turn the key in the ignition.

I'm thinking a resistor pack fault? Anyone had this fault before? Is there any way to repair a resistor?

Thanks, Danny

The fan has an electronic speed controler. It cannot be repaired - the components are potted. Mine went the same, I couldn't find the controller seperately, I had to buy a replacement fan unit - try ebay

Thank you! Saved me hunting for a resistor that doesn't exist. Ordered a fan. Cheers

Can confirm this worked. Thanks to Rich42. Fan now reatcts to the climate control panel.

My replacement fan's blades actually broke after i fitted it - no idea why. So I stripped the old and new fans to make one good one. The fans are really easy to dismantle. It's only the large resistor that is at fault, which you can buy separately and faily cheaply now as is the same as fitted to some citroens too. If i was doing this again I'd go for a new resistor.

To change resistor:
Remove fan unit (same method as non-aircon 206)
Remove screw from rear of fan casing
Pull fan motor complete with blades from plastic housing ot reveal resistor screws
Unscrew resistor - 2 screws
Reassemble.
