Do the comms unit part codes have to match ? As I've just been into scrap yard and on back of wagon is a 02 plate 206 I've had a look at the comms unit and it looks identical all the plugs are in the same place as mine under the unit but codes are different I did notice the car had the old type lights on the front where mine has the clear lights and mine is a 2003 plate. I'm not sure if it had auto lights/wipers bit not really fussed about it tbh just want to know if I can just do a straight swap or not. Oh I was told my car has esp as well although there is no button to turn it on and off but has the car skidding light up on the dash at start up if that's the esp ?

hmmm not sure on the comes unit, but if you have esp you should have a switch down to he right of the steering wheel to enable and disable it, what trim level of car do you have, i have a hdi gti with esp and switch. lol.

That's for ABS - Antilock Braking System

ESP would be a yellow triangle shaped warning lamp.

I did notice on this car in scrap yard it had no front fog lights so the stalk will have no front fog switch so if this unit works can I swap my stalk over as I have fogs on front.
my car has also had the grand tourisme bumpers fitted not that matters to the comms unit. Just a bit ticked off now as I had it diagnosed as comms malfunction on pug planet software and I'm unable to drive in the dark now as I can't drive without any lights working but have to turn them on to be able to indicate still plus the horn not working wither now and there's no power going to it as I chopped wires and tested it as I thought I'd just try aanother plug to the horn but that isn't the problem it's all down to this comms unit and the guy in the scrap yard said I can have the comms unit for a tenner so I can't go wrong if it just a case of swapping it over regardless of its parts number. Plus I need to go out tomorrow night in my car so head lights need to work again asap lol all the rear lights work fine by the way.

Its only the front fog symbol that's missing for front fogs, it will still work correctly as the BSI controls the operation of the fog lamps.

All the com unit does is send a digital signal to the BSI unit.

I was told that was the esp by the guy who scanned the car LOL so no need for it plugging back in to software to reprogram the none existent esp lol so question is still can I just swap the comms unit straight over.
Getting giddy now because I know this unit works in that car and is identical apart from the part number and not having fog lights and maybe no auto lights etc be the bargin of the day if it is as I got quoted hundreds for new unit

A new Valeo one for your spec with a years warranty will be about £150 from Euro Car parts.

I get the feeling your's is most likely same spec com unit as my 206 Wink

Yeah it has all the same stuff on the stalks but not really botherd about a new unit just want it working again so I can try and sell the car as its boot isn't.big enough lol I only.got.it in December had a zafira before and really should have bought a golf or the first idea was an astra van with the rear seats in but I fell for this with it having the grand tourisme bumpers on and chrome rims saat low to the floor haha but I can't get my dog in the boot to take him for a run to the coast with kids at weekends. Ever seen a window licking dog stuck to a boot window lol

Think I best go put mine back together before it gets dark and hopefully I can sort this tomorrow. Thanks for help both ghosty and Mr bsi I'll wait for a reply on weather or not the comms unit is a straight swap as I don't have 150 to buy a new 1 and I'm wanting to sell the car soon as I can with out it costing me hundreds to put right. If I could hide the fault I would to try and sell but they would bring it straight back with no lights indicators not working and no horn LOL would you buy it hahaa

What's the part number on yours?
I had about 5 different ones in my old 206 (for buying and testing to sell) but ended up keeping a gti model unit fitted.

I have a gti one laying around which I'm looking to sell (hence stumbling across this page)

If you need any help let me know but try not to hit yourself in the face with the steering wheel.

Thought you would have taken enough wheels off now to know that you only slacken the bolt till the wheel is free on the splines? Laughing
