I don't see why it would be dangerous, but don't expect any lovin' from the mrs because engine and gearbox oil isn't exactly an aphrodisiac

Is it only me that likes the smell of gearbox oil?
I have wardrobe sized shelf for car parts but that as far as I go. the rest stays in the garage.

I think he means will the weight of it come through the ceiling. Hard hat time if you sit downstairs.
OP, are you meaning strip the engine in your room or just have it as a piece of art?
If you are stripping it, might as well leave it in the kitchen and do it there, or better still under a tarp in the back garden. You can buy gazebos big enough to fit a whole car under for less than £50
If you want it as art, strip it all, get it cleaned inside and out, cover it in clear lacquer and rebuild it. Rather than use an engine stand, fabricate something out of box section to hold it.

Rotten eggs smells better, and even overalls going through an industrial wash cycle doesn't get the smell out.

Cant beat the smell of burnt gearbox oil, many years ago at a different warehouse some of the office girls upstairs started throwing up after an idiot burnt the brakes out on a counter balance, the smell hung around for a few days
The EP90 was smoking
