Ok so I was changing some bulbs on the number plate, glove box and interior light and I had the car running so I could tell if they were working ok, as one of them was an LED.
Suddenly after turning off the car and starting it again, (for whatever reason) the wipers and lights were on without actually being switched on?! The dash screen also wouldn't light up.
Plus then to top it off my remote stopped working and then the immobiliser wont disarm because of that.

Can anyone help as I now have a useless lump of metal and rubber in my drive! Sad

Good practice to not mess with any electrics with the battery connected, let alone the car running....

Ok thanks for the replies. I can't get the BSI reset to work. I don't know if it is me or because the remote isn't working, it stopped working when the problems started.

What else can I do please?

Blown some fuses, fried a wire or BSI when you changed the interior light.

Yup, turned out it was just the fuse for the multifunction display as this also handles the boot light and I changed the bulb from that too.

I WON'T be messing with electrics while switched on any more, that's for sure!

Turns out it might be Sad Now the antipollution message comes up on the screen when I start the car and the engine management light stays on.

Any ideas what I've done? I've reset the BSI now the remotes working again, but no luck.

*Update* I think there may be a fault with my manifold lambda sensor as it has a throttle problem occasionally and its overfueling (28.6mpg!!)
so maybe I should replace that first and see.

Have you read the codes and live data first? It's better than just replacing parts on a hunch.

Get the codes read before you go buying parts. Although you can guess at a reason, there is no guarantee that spending £80 is going to make the light go out.

Code readers are quite cheap or you could pop into a garage and get them to do it. Find out the code, tell them you will have to book it in when you have some spare cash and then if possible fix it yourself.

Thanks and I get what your saying but I am pretty sure its faulty as one of the wires have split through to the metal and that looks a little bit damaged as well Wink
Plus they can be bought for about £25 online

Stay clear of the universal/generic ones. You end up having to cut the wires then mess about soldering them together. Even then there is no guarantee they won't throw up a fault.

I went to this guy because he is local to me. He didn't have the right one in, but got it within a couple of days from Germany.

You will need to get the correct part number from servicebox and then match it up with the one you are buying. I think yours are pre cat 1618Z7 (dealer £179.60) and post cat 1618AN (dealer £174.46), but check using your VIN to make absolutely sure.

The old ones can be a pig to get out. This is what happened to mine when I tried the spanner on it. Luckily I was replacing the cat anyway for obvious reasons like it wasn't even attached to the pipe. I've not done a pre cat one yet, but I can imagine being in the manifold for so long, it's going to be one of those jobs where you know it's going to hurt your knuckles, but you pull harder anyway.

Do NOT buy cheap generic lambda sensors from anywhere. Every forum for every car must be full of threads by people who have had problems after doing that.

Like I said I understand what you are saying. But this guy has 7000+ feedback and only 6 negative/neutral!

£25 is a hell of a lot better than £80-£160 from pug!
Plus these are better build quality than the crappy standard ones that always break on people Wink
The only reason Peugeot get away with charging ridiculous prices like that is because they are a main dealer. It would be cheaper than them ANYWHERE.
