What |
So, let me get this straight... if I had a 1.1 with 17mm torsion bars and stuck just a set of SPAX bone breaking shocks on the rear end, my suspension will be stiff..? No itll still flop around like a limp d**k.
To stiffen suspension you have to do spring and shocks / torsion bars and shocks not one or the other.

What the point in adjustable dampers then? If they don't do anything.

Try and learn what a shock absorber does first, and then you might start understanding the workings of the suspension system.

Fit uprated dampers to a car with standard torsion bars. Put 100kg in it. The suspension drop will be the same as before.
Put the same load on a car with uprated torsion bars and it won't drop as far.
The clue to what dampers do is in their name. They dampen the energy in the torsion bars. So they slow down the suspension movement.
