Hi All,

I have looked at the forum and think I have it will work but wanted to check with those of you more in the know.

Just bought a 2003 CC 2.0 petrol for my Daughter to learn to drive.

It has the stalk with arrows and a three line display. I take it this means all it needs is activating? If so how can I get this done in the Devizes, Wiltshire area? Is it a case of going to a dealer or is there someone who has the correct device that can do this for me?

Thanks for your help and advice.

Best regards

Chris

Well if you got the wiper stalk with arrows and button to press,it means that you already have it working,so when you press the button, nothing change on the MFD?

anyway, you need the Peugeot Planet 2000 to activate it,so you can go to the dealer,or ask who got this software close to you so that he can activate it for you, only 10 min.s job.

Cheers

Hi Timon,

Many thanks for that.

I bought the car off the first and only owner and she says that it did have a trip computer but she never used it. So it could be the contacts in the stalk are dirty. I will take the end off the stalk tomorrow, then clean and lube them.

Best regards

Chris

Found the problem!

Took the end of the stalk and it came out with the ribbon cable which was not plugged in!

So I have taken the shroud off the steering wheel, but now cannot see how to get the stalk apart to re insert the ribbon cable! Searched the forum, but I cannot find an explanation of how to do this.

Remember it is a 2003 CC.

Is this a steering wheel off job?

Thanks for your help.

Best regards

Chris

Hi All,

Not sure if I should raise another thread?

I am trying to confirm if I can put the end of the indicator stalk and ribbon back in without removing the steering wheel. Does anybody know the answer?

Thanks for your help.

Best regards

Chris

I have just done this job.

Disconnect the battery.

Remove the steering wheel and comms unit.

Open the comms unit carefully. Several clips.

Re thread the cable back down the wiper stalk.

There is a white connector on the main board. Unlock the clip. Put the cable backin and close the clip.

Put it all back together. Total job should take no more than 1hr.

Hi Tolkienfan,

Many thanks for that. Will sort it out at the weekend.

Oh, that is if I have the correct size socket for the steering wheel! Do you remember what size it is?

Best regards

Yes but it is a star shaped torx bit that you need to undo it. Don't remove it fully. Loosen the steering wheel first or you may lose a couple of teeth Smile

Nope, the steering wheel is held on with a Torx bolt.

Having taken the steering wheel off, opened up the 'comms' unit to remove the indicator/trip computer stalk and put it all back together it still didn't work!

So I took the stalk apart and found part of the circuit that is activated by the push button on the end of the stalk was broken.

Off to scrappy and bought a new comms unit with all three stalks, installed and working fine!

It took a while to understand how to get the steering wheel off. So I took a couple of photos and will upload them when I get a few minutes to spare. Hopefully it will help someone else.

Best regards

Chris

I too have just bought a 2002 206 1.6xsi and have a simlar problem in that the button on the end of the wiper stalk is not doing anything, it feels like a plug rather than a button. Pressed it a few times and i did have the "running in economy mode" come up the once (which is mentioned in the owners handbook) though what that means i have no idea.
Can someone please confirm getting another stalk from a scrapyard or wherever will work straight off. All i see on the bottom of the display at the moment is a kind of a lollipop stick two > arrows and 14 mph (yes h not g) that 14 has gone up slowly in the three days i've owned the car from 4 initially.
