Firstly I had abs light come on shortly after a driveshaft replacement, then I had rear axle changed from a drum to disc as it needed replacing anyway but now handbrake cable is on dim when handbrakes off. Tried the handbrake switch unplugged. Tried to trace the earth, but no luck, tried unplugging brake fluid, wiping and shaking bottle no luck, for the abs light I've tried reaching the abs light but its to deep in the engine bay to uplug and have a look. Now greeting to point of I might just take the bulbs out lol!

Solutions anyone?

Thanks in advance

When you disconnected the handbrake switch did the light stay as it was, go out or go brighter?

ABS could be a number of issues like dodgy sensor, cracked ring or just crap in one of the rings. It would need plugging in to diagnose the fault.

Needs scanning to see what ABS fault codes are logged in the memory.

Hi,

I have the exact same handbrake + abs light symptom after rear axle swap. I'm driving a preplex and the rear axle is from multiplex. PP2000 scan shows that both the left and right sensors are open. Could it be the ABS fault that trigger the handbrake light on or it's the wiring short on behind the dash?

I have has this issue and resolved it. Drums to disc conversion you need to make sure you have the right sensors plugged in as the ones from the disks can be different. My solution was to knock out the abs reluctor ring from my drum set up and have the ring pressed onto the disk set up and all was fine. its something to do with the way the sensor pics up the info from the ring.
