Hi there.Just bought an '04 206 1.4 fever.Has several electrical problems,unsure where to start.Here goes-
Intermittently-STOP light on dash,car won't start-leave a while,car starts ok again.
Fan always running.
Clock/display resets to 0 everytime ignition switched off.
Front and/or rear wipers work by themselves when starting car-stop once running.
Central locking not working-passenger door not unlocking.
Constant beeping from radio.
Interior lights not working.
Car has had replacment ECU and BSI at some point in its life-also only came with 1,nonplip key.
Plugged in to autoboss,fault codes reported-
P0485
95-Remote intermittent fault.Vehicle speed info.Incorrect value received.
Central locking button inactive.
Cleared all trouble codes-same problems.

Should I try BSI reset?Bit concerned about doing so,as not its original BSI,plus don't have key fob.

Yea try a BSI reset. Also worth looking into battery condition? Negative terminal earth strap condition. You may have a couple of issues battery and maybe comms unit? See what the car is like after a reset. You have so many issues. I can't see it being just one problem.

Also best not to just wipe codes until you have fixed the issue.

Also MR BSI is the guy you want to answer this thread. If its on a pug and electrical he understands it and knows what he is talking about!

Why do I get the feeling this replacement BSI unit isn't correctly configured for the equipment the car actually has fitted.

Yea, fan always running gives it away.

ECU configs too while your'e at it.

Thanks.Taking it to a friend who has peugeot planet tomorrow.Quick question-do we code the ecu,bsi etc to the car,or vice versa if that makes sense.And will we need the plastic card code,or can pp retrieve it?(we don't have it).

You do not need the code to configure it, but:

1) Clone interface is risky for this job, you might end-up with a non-starter esp. in ECU configs.
OR it might be alright.

2) You need to know what parameter settings to put in there... Best bet is take a screenshot of current settings and put them up on here. Then by looking in Servicebox with the car's VIN you can slowly check if things should be changed.

You DO need the code to add keys, add a new BSI or add a new ECU.
In the event of the keys no-longer being recognised, you will need the code otherwise you're 'locked-out' and you have a non-starter.

The code can be found-out from your VIN if you speak to a dealer and give them money. It's good to have anyway if you intend on keeping the vehicle long-term.

Pug main dealer in UK will ask for photo id & proof of ownership for the car before issuing any security codes.

Issue is the security code they will give the customer is the one for the car's original VIN number / BSI unit.

If the replacement BSI unit, engine ecu & keyfobs have all come from another 206, the security code will be different.

Exactly, you'll have to give the VIN of the donor vehicle, not your car's.

BUT the Peugeot main dealer in the UK will ONLY supply the security code that matches the VIN on the V5C registration document that the owner shows them as proof of ownership of the car Laughing

You cant just give them a VIN & ask for the code, they want to see proof of ownership & photo id before they release any security codes / keys / locks.

Hmm any way of getting around it?Only bought the car on Tuesday for my daughter.No card code supplied with it.Have V5 etc.Can PP get the codes from the ecu?Only when we got it home did we realise it had had a new/replacement ECU.
If we were to take it into a peugeot dealer (which I really can't afford but would if it came to it),would they sort it,or would not having the donor cars vin be a problem?The replacement ecu only has the donor cars reg on it,no other info.

No donor's VIN, no code.

Try to find it from the registration details if you have that.

You do NOT need it to update configs ordinarily, it's just good to have.

I would recomend taking it to a Peugeot dealer with genuine interface and PP2000 setup.

Then, update the software version on ECU and BSI, then finaly perform 'Automatic configuration' (uses peugeot servers on-line in real-time) using the CAR's VIN to match the configs to the equipment fitted.

Full stop, end of story.
