Hi all

Ive brought myself another 206 this time its an estate 1.4 03 plate.

It has full service history i brought it a few weeks ago. Today whilst stuck in traffic the fan kicked in. however when I got home and parked it up there was a big puddle underneath the car. and the coolant tank looked as if it had dried residue on it. It did look like it had been leaking from the cap of the reservoir tank.

im presuming it was this which had leaked.

any remedies people?

Thanks in advance

Was the a/c on? Have you checked the water level?

well that is common problem with the coolant reservoir cap,as with time, and hot condition the seal inside the cap dries, and sometimes it get cut into pieces,so a new cap will fix the problem.

A/c wasnt on, but the the water was really low due to the amount which had leaked out. I topped it up back to half way full and let the thermostat kick while the cap was off the reservoir tank just in case there were any bubbles or air locks in the system.

Same thing as mine. I second what Timon said above. Noticed the same symptoms as yours, dried coolant on the tank which leads to the cap. I get a puddle whenever the car is parked when hot.
