Just bought a GTI138

Car engages gear 1 2 and 3 and reverse fine but screeches when engaging into these gears, except third, it won't engage 4 or 5

Big leak of oil on gearbox can be seen so I assume that the gearbox is low on oil

There is a screeching sound when moving in any gear except third gear and sometimes even when the gear stick is not in gear, the car still creeps forward like its in gear

Any ideas please?

Bought this cheap so it's a play toy to fix up and then teach the mrs to drive in it

Changed gear oil!

120ml came out... 2L or so went in...

PERFECT! Smooth as anything ! So so happy!

Gearbox has a small leak , probably why the gearbox had no oil... its in tomorrow with a local mechanic to replace oil seals on the box Smile

Probably the driveshaft seals, quite common!
