Is this easy to do or is it a job for the garage who have quoted £130!
It was an advisory on the MOT as one of the bushings is quite bad.
I was told its easier to change the whole thing rather than mess about putting new bushes in.
I am quite handy as I have already changed the back axle on this car.

If you can change the rear axle you can do the front arm easy

You'll need a chain and a long bar to lever the arm out. Makes the job a lot easier. Also a spare pair of hands to help. Its an easy job though, just dont buy chap wishbones!

You'll need it to pull the lower ball joint out, only tool that will work. Didn't you have your clutch changed not long ago?

Has it been knocking since then? Didn't you have problems with them doing your clutch?

I cant here any knocking it was just an advisory on the mot.
I had loads of problems with the work the mechanic done when he replaced my clutch.
he took the clutch in and out 3 times!
had to have a new gearbox bearing.
Drive shaft seals both leaked out all over my drive.
a bolt sheared behind the front wheel
and where he kept jacking it up it ruined the rear axle bearing on one side so had to have new axle fitted!

Wondered if this might be another problem to add from that work? Were they original wishbones? I doubt you could bring this up with them as well though!

Front wishbone sounds worse to do than it is. You can do it in your own and instead of a chain I used a strong rope wound around several times. Do that at your own risk! My long bar is a 6ft length if scaffold pole. Using that it is so long that the weight of the wheel placed on the end is enough leverage on To get the arm down and bottom swivel out if the hub. The only real fiddly bit is that the bottom swivel often catches in the hub. It is just a bit of a faf to release but can be done as one man job.
To make getting the old arm off really easy just cut it in half with a disc cutter - that is what I often do with ones that are already knackered.
