So my lovely 206 has died, cambelt came off and destroyed the engine.

Its at my local garage, it was going to have a new(used) engine put in, but they said they were mis quoted and that was too much.

It is now having an engine rebuild for £1500, BUT the garage is saying its waiting on two fundamental parts that can only be got from Peugeot... They then said, Peugeot has a back order of parts so could take and unknown amount of time.

Has anyone else heard of this? Its been two weeks now and I'm dying for my car back...

Find out what parts it is and approach Peugeot direct. Never had to wait more than 10 days for parts, including back order from France.

EBay spares & repairs, let some other mug have the problem.

Should have had it serviced. Sad

Just buy a complete engine and send it to the garage and just get them to fit it. Would be cheaper than £1500. Last time we had a engine fitted it cost £400

So how does that differ to the 1.6 HDI engine available now?

I would just replace the whole engine. Unless a specialist rebuilder was doing the work, I wouldn't trust the engine again.

Cheapest on Ebay.

Thumbs Up What He Said ,Well it's always to replace the whole engine instead of rebuilding it,because engines done by the factory is much better than any garage, and the cost of rebuild is very expensive I say, don't worth that,so get a second hand engine or maybe a brand new one if you are lucky, and got it serviced :),new cam belt, water bump,....etc.

16 valve version of DV6 killed of in 2011.

Current version of DV6 is only an 8 valve unit.

5 quid says it broke the followers and thats it

Slap a new belt on and see, shouldnt cost more than 200 to fix if you do it yourself

my cam belt went, only cost 400 quid to sort.

8 new valves, new cam belt kit, cylinder head skimmed, new gasket, oil filter, fresh oil and new engine coolant...

unless it did more damage than this, 1500 quid is a rip off

oh and i did it doing 60 mph
