Just bought the car and took it in to have the cambelt done. It came back with a rattling noise so sent it back to them. Came back again with a different rattle and this whirring noise.
Took it to another garage for a second opinion. The rattle was a knackered idler on the aux belt but with the aux off it was still whirring, therefore the cambelt. It was over tight. This second garage is a Peugeot independent so i trust they have the correct tensioner guage but it is still whirring.
I have now spent £300 at the first garage and £250 at the second.
Any ideas of what it can be or is this just a noise the 2.0 hdi can make? Can new cambelts make a noise before they settle in?
Many thanks in advance
Pete
