Hi guys,
I've just had a recon gearbox fitted and im sure im reving higher now at 70mph, does anybody with a 1.4 hdi know what thiers revs at doing 70mph?
Its doing over 3000revs now, but i think it used to be around 2500.

My petrol 1.4 is about 3500 at 70.

Thanks Hawkers, I think they've put a petrol engine gearbox on my 1.4 HDi!
Just need somebody with a 1.4 HDi, to give me a rough indication of revs at any speed in 5th gear

Petrol will be completely different to petrol. I thought someone would have answered by now. Is it a BE or an MA box?

Thanks Steve, yes I thought this would be a quick one, just need somebody with a 1.4 hdi, to tell what their revs are at any speed in 5th.
BE or MA? its a manual, is that what it means?
I searched on youtube and found 3 mad French guys that video'd their speedo at 150kph in 1.4 hdi's. I've worked that out to be 2563 revs at 70mph, but just want a couple of people to confirm before I go back to garage and complain that they have fitted the wrong recon gearbox.

All thats probably happened is you have the wrong FD in the gearbox, which is more than common as peugeots logic to the final drive is a complete mystery

If I wasn't the only 1.4 hdi driver on here, I'd have proof that it is wrong!

5th gear, cruising was 2600rpm

Thanks a lot for that, confirms what I thought and had worked out.
So it looks like a trip back to the garage as I'm doing 500 rpm more than that at 70 mph.
Really appreciate you taking the time, was really beginning to think I was the only one still driving a 1.4 Hdi!

You do realise his is 307? Meaning the final drive will be different. Also meaning your test is pointless

My 1.4 hdi 03 plate does 70 in fifth with revs at about 2600. Fourth gear at 70 is about 3200 (ish)
