Hi guys heres my sad little story, hope i can get some info that might cheer me up...

I recently moved house from barcelona to berlin.
We drove in my little 206 gti with all our worldly possessions that we could fit in.
About five hours into france whilst in the fast lane, it popped out of fith gear and started making a lovely scraping noise. We pulled over, and cried for a bit, convinced we were stranded for ever in france.

I eventually noticed gears one through to four still worked and we managed to drive the fifteen hours to berlin, very slowly.

The car was recently serviced, oil changed etc.
Fifth gear wont engage it just revs like its in neutral. Rest of gears work perfectly apart from a slight noise....

I read that this gear is outside the normal gears (might be wrng) so is it fixable?

Thanks in advance!

Its more than likely going to be the fifth gear syncro or mechanism has failed. You cant tell till the box is out

I had my third and fifth gears replace without taking the gearbox off the car.

Fifth sure, end casing of and your there. But I dont honestly see the point when in comes to doing and gear below fourth. More agro than its worth and in my eyes in wont ever be a good job.

Its like doing a full engine rebuild with the engine in the car, just no point
