Hi guys, recently bought a 206 gti, love the car but have this issue!

Pulsing idle speed, doesn't want to tickover, slight misfire sometimes and will occasionally stall, being a pain to restart!

Cooling fan randomly cuts in and out, revs seem to struggle more when this happens and misfires worse!

Please help, praying its something simple! Crying or Very sad

I haven't been active for a long time but I remember years ago people talking about this, it was stickied at the time and a huge amount of people had the issue. I can't find the topic but someone else will no what i'm talking about maybe. I remember someone diagnosing the problem if its what I think it is.

I hope someone can help me as the car is getting reasonably unreasonable... my initial thoughts were coolant temp sensor but it doesn't seem to sit right with other people...

I'd say coolant temp sensor. I think there might be 2. One for the dash, one for the ecu. Would give you the symptoms you mention.

Cheers guys, just changed the coolant sensor, just the one below the thermostat on this model... seems to run better but time will tell when I take her for a thrash later! Cheers Smile

well you need to check your spark plugs as you bought it recently,so i would say try to have it fully serviced as winter is coming, and everything should be working well, many things can cause your problem,as the coolant temp sensor as guys said, spark plugs, stepper motor, dirty throttle body,....,etc so the service will make things better Smile

Just serviced before bought, new plugs, oil and air filter etc so all that is done and sorted! Fitted the new coolant sensor, seems to have done the trick so fingers crossed! Cheers for the advice guys!
