hi i just braught my pug 206 1.4 2000reg a week ago, and i noticed that when i use the brakes the pedal goes far down before the work (feels like nearly to the floor) i havent bled them yet as need a bleed screw replacing and the fluid it topped up to just under max aswell. just wondering if this is common and what could be the cause

Are your brakes worn down? Because I had this problem a few months ago, turned out my brakes needed replacing all around. Smile

s**t man! Yeah I would bleed the brakes see if it makes a difference, as I said I changed mine and they were fine, could be a number of things then. Not enough fluid in the MC, wheels bearings out of adjustment, piston seal damage, pads not sitting properly. Numerous possibilities mate Confused

This can happen when the brake show lining comes away from the shoe, but as you've had the drums off and checked the shoes, then can't be this.

Did you wind the auto adjusters inside the brake drum up so the shoes were just catching the drums when you put them back on?

Does the engine stall if you try and set off with the handbrake on?
