Hello everyone have a little problem you might be able to help me with.
I am doing the dreaded clutch change, I have managed to get the rh shaft out and what a mission that was, ended up taking the complete engine mount of to free the drive shaft.
I them took it into the workshop and hit the shaft from the top to remove the rusty bearing from the carrier.
The bearing has some play and is far from smooth is the anyway to remove the bearing and replace it without having to buy a whole new driveshaft.
I have a bearing suppliers not to far from me don't suppose anyone knows the sizes I can measure it if need be.
What is the best way to go about removing obviously I will clean the driveshaft up first maybe it will beat off, just not sure about the retainer behind it.
Thanks for any help, I want to fix this as I do get whine and I reckon this is the reason why.

'Much better and easier would be to get a bearing specificaly quoted as being for that driveshaft..
In eBay there are loads of them for not that much.
There is no retainer as such behind it, there are instead a couple of slider-bolts that secure it into place in the aluminium base-thing.
You have to take those off first, then do your best not to damage the actual driveshaft or CV joints when banging.

Thanks for that only one on ebay is £20 not being funny but that is way expensive does anyone know the size as going to bearing place it will be a couple of quid fiver at most.
There is a circular bit of metal in front of it, I take the that come of as well as it would stop the bearing sliding down the shaft.

I thought I would add to this rather create a new post.
I have undone everything on the gearbox removed the three retaining bolts, removed starter motor, removed flywheel sensor.
Have tried to lever the box off using the gap the flywheel sensor left, will not move, even managed to break the thermostat housing.
Does anyone have any tips for removing or have I missed a bolt somewhere have followed the haynes manual, even the 206cc guide.
Bit of a pain really as I really need the car back on the road.

You've missed a bolt. There is two right behind the engine. You need to be right under the car to see them.

Hmm they are not listed in the guide, have you got a link to a good guide with said bolts.
Is it near the exhaust bracket?

There are 4 bolts that hold the gearboxes to the TU engines i thought? Been a while though! Must have missed something anyway they usually move quite easy once everythings been undone.

Must be another one, looks like the exhaust has been badged before so I reckon it's behind that

Its been a few years since i took an MA box off but iirc there is one at the back near the starter, and one down towards the rear-bottom of the gearbox, probably one of those that you've missed, as im pretty sure the other two are very easily seen. Ie on the top and at the front. I may be wrong though as it has been a while as i said!

all the bolts are removed I have double checked everywhere, the one near the exhaust was not even there.
when you try to pullit whole engine moves what a pain and now its raining.

I just took another bolt from underneath though maybe this is the magic bolts turned out to be the selector rod, oh well back to the drawing board.

Have you removed both driveshafts and selector rods? What's holding the weight of the engine? Have you taken the engine mount off.

Both driveshafts out and selector rods, got a bottle jack with wood supporting sump and trolley jack under gearbox so all is safe.
