Thicker Torsion bars, thicker ARB & they have sway bars as well, I know the SW axle's have the sway arms but im not sure of the top of my head if they have thinner bars or not.

Shut it u stupid little f**k, what's the point in posting in all my treads being such a c***? Least I can afford a gti180, and to get the cam belt done!

So apparently everyone knows my financial situation? If I wanted a 180 I would have bought a 180 simples Smile

Why not get a cheap any model axleaxle, rip yours apart and put all the bars, anti roll, braces and trailing arms on the centre tube axle tube?

You could just get a new axle from the dealer and build that with new bearings. Some 2nd hand axles are rotten looking these days.

And keep in mind when looking for the axle tube. Some, if not all, normal GTIs have triangular shaped axle tubes (don't ask me why, I have one and it's from an early GTI) opposed to the round ones found on almost everything else. You have to have a round axle tube to fit the sway bars.

Here is where I got mine from It cost me £350 exchange service. I managed to get one for my SW which has the sway bars. They should be able to supply one for the 180.

www.fraserbrowneng.co....axle_recon

They also put lubricant in them. So that they don't dry out like the standard ones that leave the factory.

I suspect the round axles were introduced at the same time as the trailing arms were cast with the bosses for the lateral link brackets. Earlier arms didn't have the bosses cast into them.
