ok iv had a good look round there's no air pump from what i can see, whats the optical sensor ? its something iv not heard about before. it say in that link to check wiring but what wires sould i be checking for the optical sensor? iv looked on autodata and there's no info on there, could it be the ecu ? any help would be appreciated as i need to be back on the road asap.

sorry for late reply, the optical sensor is the sensor that monitors the movement of the timing belt (camshaft and crankshaft ),you will see it close to the crankshaft.

so im guessing that could be the crank sensor then or wiring to it or the timing could be out causing it or even the ecu then. i dont think there's a cam sensor fitted to the 1.1.

don't have it at the minute but im sure its not got one fitted, anyway with the crank sensor plugged in the code p0412 comes on when trying to start it, remove the plug to the crank sensor and clear the codes, spin it over and no codes come back on. could it be the sensor or ecu or wiring. seems strange for it to not come up with crank sensor when its not plugged in.
