Hi guys! I bought a cheap red 1.1 Pug from 2005 as a project car and commuter to work just to keep myself busy during boring weekends.

I know it might sound ridiculous investing in such a car, but I thought it might be worth doing that as it is a cheap car to work on + if I mess it up it won't be a problem and it does need some care.

I came here as I need some help and recommendations with some bits and pieces. Here are the modifications that come to mind right now.

1. I would like to put a cone filter, but root it down (CAI) so it doesn't suck in hot air from the engine bay. Do you know the diameter of the intake and what kind of pipes would you recommend?

2. After upgrading the filter and getting a bit more noise in the engine bay, I am looking to get some noise at the back as well. Do you have any recommendations for some good sounding backboxes? Also what is the diameter of the exhaust pipe to the backbox?

3. I would like to get lowering springs (35-40mm) however I struggle to find full sets. Most of the websites have front springs only. Any recommendations would be much appreciated.

4. Alloy wheels would be the next step from a 307 and paint them black. It's a pain to find 4 stud alloys... I am looking to fit some 195 or 205/40 R17 on the wheels.

5. Convert rear drum brakes to disc brakes. I am not very well informed on this, so again if someone has done it already and has any advice I would be grateful.

6. My current bonnet and left side panels are quite damaged. I am looking to replace them, but I struggle to find the bright red panels that my car is coloured in. Do you think a paint shop could get those panels painted cheap? Other alternatives?

7. Put a sub in the boot, cause i like bass haha

That is about it for now. If you have any other ideas or nice mods in mind please recommend them below.

3. 206 doesn't have rear springs. Uses torsion bars . There is a good search feature on the forum ... info on how to lower the rear is on here.

Where are you? 17" nimrods are around and fit. Not sure if 307 pcd is same.

Down to just the 1.4 HDi. Cayman Green 2.0i CC sold.

Thank you for the info about the rear torsion bar. I managed to find the post!

I live around the Oxford area. I haven't seen any 17" nimrods. I'll have a proper look. I found on ebay some 307 alloys with 4x108 pcd. I am not looking for brand new as I don't think it's worth it.

Most 206 alloys are 16" as the profile is already down to 45 and the ride is pretty harsh at that point.

Cone filter is a waste of time on a 1.1 - get a decent panel filter & use the factory air intake setup.

Rear discs again are not worth bothering with unless your changing a defective rear axle, the standard drum brakes are more then adequate & offer a better handbrake.

17" alloys on a 1.1 are to big, you will ruin the performance, 15" or 16" at a push are a much better compromise.

Thank you for the advice! I will look at 15-16" wheels. Any recommendations on my other points? In particular for the backbox?
