i have a problem with my speedo on my 206 gti its a 2002 on a 53 plate

the speedo needle used to site just bellow the 5mph dash when stopped or when ignition was off now its sitting dead centre ( where the stop light is) and seams to be getting closer to the 130mph point the speedo its self still works fine,

i think i have come to my own conclusion to the fix which is change the diles
but i just wanted to get a 2nd opinion

any help will be appreciated Thumb Up

Have a look at this guide as it maybe help you to fix yours,the cause of this is starting the car many times while you have a weak battery,and make the dials flick

2002 on a 53 plate ???

If you replace the dials make sure the new ones have less miles else it will overwrite the car mileage. Which could be bad depending on the deviation.

I have v reg 206 gti 2.0 special edition everything else on speedo works part from the speed! I've changed the speedo sencer it's still don't work ! Put different working clocks in still no made sure all the gearbox wirers n pluges are in that I can retch and now that we've messed about with clock the digital readings not working! what's my problem? All I can thing of now is the plug n wires under passenger wheel

First thing is to drive with the door open slightly. If the interior light flashes the ECU is getting a signal which mean the wiring is intact from speed sensor to ECU.
On mine the plug behind the front bumper had a broken wire.

Saxo electric PAS pump, Vibra Technics engine mounts. Samco coolant hoses, TTV steel flywheel, 4.76 final drive ratio, 307 CC 180 ratios. 2019 BMW 530i. 2017 Mercedes C300 convertible.
